Abstract
This paper is a reflection on the nature of education in a post-modern, post-humanist world. In this paper, this world and time are referred to as the subjective age. A new education for this age is imploring us to answer the question- what is education for? However, even before we understand what it is for, we need to understand what education is. This paper traces the evolution of learning in nature, society and self to get a sense of what it means to learn and how it has changed over time. It then proposes the learning of the subjective age as an integral learning of becoming, which involves a critical dialogue between the seeming polarities that have hitherto divided our world- and leads to transformation and self-realisation.
