The Tsunami, which occurred in an unexpected time on the 26th of December 2004, has caused a major disaster in the coastal villages of Pondicherry and Tamil Nadu. In the coastal areas the major community is the fishermen who dwell just near the seashore. These villages where the fishermen live are known as “Kuppam”.
